TOPICAL application is the most common and easiest way to use Essential Oils with livestock.
There are many ways to apply oils topically with cattle, horses, goats, and hogs. Spray bottles are the most common, but here are some other tips for topical use:
• Apply along the spine directly from the bottle, going from tail to head and massaging the oil in using clockwise circles.
• Massage (who doesn’t love a good massage?).
• Reflexology points on the coronet bands above each hoof.
• Apply to the tips of the ears.
• Apply directly to the area of interest.
• to apply during bathing, Mix a drop with shampoo.
• Via hot or cold compress: apply one drop of Essential Oil in two cups of ice water for a cold compress or hot water for a hot compress and soak a natural cloth in water; wring out, then apply to the area of interest.
• Apply via a roller bottle or spray.
• Spray a little diluted oil onto the animal’s brush before grooming.
TIP: if you use a roller bottle, apply the oil from the roller bottle onto your hand or finger first; in this way, the roller bottle does not get contaminated!
